– the first king of Norway

Harald Fairhair was a Norwegian king at the end of the 9th century and the beginning of the 10th century, and he probably died around 930–933.

In tradition, he has been portrayed as the first king to unify Norway, after the victory in the Battle of Hafrsfjord, which is often dated to around 872.

He received the epithet «Fairhair» according to the sagas because he is said to have refused to cut his hair and beard until the unification of the kingdom was complete.
